Simon Wilby Finds Breakthrough in Solar Powered Devices

Simon Wilby has developed a lithium battery that can run on virtually any type of light sources – from solar power to ambient light – and can outperform conventional mobile phone batteries by as much as 300% in terms of talk time.

His invention, The Smart One, demonstrates that renewable energy source can be exploited to provide more efficient energy for portable devices like cellular phones. Through the use of the latest plastic solar cells that convert solar energy more efficiently than silicone solar cells, a cutting edge technology that is cleaner to the environment was born. Considering the potentials of this technology, Simon Wilby expects to find more applications for his solar powered invention.

Smart Power Inc. envisions using the same technology for other applications. In fact, application for patent is already underway for a solar powered skin that is to be integrated to laptops. This is anticipated to trim down the bulkiness of laptops by relying on solar panels that will be fastened to the back of screens. This skin should take care of the energy need of laptops as it is directly connected to the power port of the device. Similar applications are being planned for other gizmos and portable devices.

The Smart One will be ready for international commercialization soon. As of yet, Simon Wilby is looking to improve his invention before he plays the bigger market.
